What size monitor should I buy?

The smallest desktop monitor is 14 inches measured from the diagonal edges of the tube. In most cases the actual viewing area is one inch less then the stated size. I imagine people would not tolerate that deceptive practice with their TVs as the viewing area correctly lists TVs. Anyway, the standard desktop monitor is now a 15-inch SVGA .26-. 28-dot pitch monitor. These come as part of many mid priced packages. A 15" can be bought from us for $220. Spend the twenty or so buck and avoid the 14" (really 13") monitor. If you have a bigger budget and would like a higher quality monitor for graphics and games, the 17" is perfect for most uses. At around $550-$600 it a lot more but you get what you pay for.  Please try a couple of monitors out before you decide. Even if you just play a round of solitaire you'll see what I mean.
